Yajilarra is a peaceful rural retreat just five minutes from stunning beaches. Nestled in with abundant native wildlife, including many species of birds, wombats and kangaroos. it’s the perfect place to unwind and explore the local beaches.
A few reasons really. By opening our property to enthusiastic volunteers, we gain extra hands to help with bush regeneration and tackle invasive weeds naturally which is a great help to us. And as passionate travellers ourselves, we also love connecting with other cultures, exchanging stories, and sharing a great lifestyle with people from all over the world. It just seemed like an easy natural trade, to offer a comfortable home and meals in exchange for a little daily support on the land.
Organic/Biological methods we use
We have a Homestead Grid vegetable beds, a small number of horses, Dorper sheep, and chickens focusing on:
Pest and weed control – companion planting, biological control, manual weeding of toxic weeds, sheep brought onto the property only during fire weed season to naturally reduce infestation
Resource and Biodiversity management – multi-species grazing, cover cropping
