Why I became a WWOOF Host

A few reasons really. By opening our property to enthusiastic volunteers, we gain extra hands to help with bush regeneration and tackle invasive weeds naturally which is a great help to us. And as passionate travellers ourselves, we also love connecting with other cultures, exchanging stories, and sharing a great lifestyle with people from all over the world. It just seemed like an easy natural trade, to offer a comfortable home and meals in exchange for a little daily support on the land.

Organic/Biological methods we use

We have a Homestead Grid vegetable beds, a small number of horses, Dorper sheep, and chickens focusing on:

Pasture and soil management – rotational grazing, composting horse manure, no-till gardening

Pest and weed control – companion planting, biological control, manual weeding of toxic weeds, sheep brought onto the property only during fire weed season to naturally reduce infestation

Resource and Biodiversity management – multi-species grazing, cover cropping
