Yarraman Territory
We are a horse-based tourism and education business located on a rural property near Darwin in the Northern Territory, Australia. We combine horsemanship, tourism, youth programs and outback experiences, providing visitors with a genuine taste of Top End life.
Our property is home to a herd of well-trained horses used for riding lessons, clinics, school holiday programs and multi-day adventure rides. Volunteers have the opportunity to experience a working horse facility while learning practical skills in horse care, livestock handling, property maintenance and general farm operations.
Tasks may include feeding and grooming horses, cleaning yards, checking fences and water points, assisting with property upkeep, gardening, and helping prepare for lessons and events. No previous horse experience is required, although a willingness to learn and work around animals is essential.
Life here offers a unique mix of rural living and access to Darwin’s attractions, national parks and the spectacular landscapes of the Northern Territory. Volunteers can enjoy sunsets, wildlife, campfires and the relaxed atmosphere of an Australian horse property.
We welcome enthusiastic, reliable and positive people who are keen to learn, contribute and become part of our small team. This is a great opportunity to develop practical skills, gain confidence around horses and experience authentic outback Australia.

Why I became a WWOOF Host
We became a WWOOF host because we enjoy sharing our knowledge of horses, rural living and life in Australia’s Northern Territory with people from around the world. WWOOF provides an opportunity for cultural exchange, allowing volunteers to experience authentic Australian country life while contributing to a working horse property.
As a small family-run business, volunteers help us with a variety of daily tasks, while gaining valuable hands-on experience in horse care, animal management, tourism and property maintenance. In return, we provide a welcoming environment where people can learn new skills, build confidence and become part of our team.
We believe that hosting WWOOFers creates mutual benefits. Volunteers gain practical experience, make new friendships and experience the unique landscapes and lifestyle of the Top End, while we benefit from fresh perspectives, cultural diversity and the opportunity to share our passion for horses and the outback.
Many of our volunteers arrive with little or no horse experience, and it is rewarding to watch them develop new skills, confidence and a deeper appreciation for animals, agriculture and rural communities. Hosting WWOOFers allows us to support sustainable travel, cultural understanding and meaningful learning experiences for people from all over the world.

Organic/Biological methods we use
We aim to use environmentally responsible and sustainable practices wherever possible. Biological methods used on our property include rotational grazing of horses to maintain pasture health, reduce overgrazing and encourage natural regeneration of grasses and native vegetation.
Horse manure is collected and reused as a natural fertiliser to improve soil health, increase organic matter and support beneficial soil organisms. We minimise the use of chemical fertilisers by relying on composted organic material and natural nutrient cycling within our paddocks.
We encourage biodiversity by maintaining native trees and vegetation throughout the property, providing habitat for local wildlife, birds and beneficial insects. Natural vegetation buffers are retained around waterways and drainage areas to reduce erosion and improve water quality.
Where practical, weed management is undertaken through grazing management, slashing and manual removal before considering chemical control methods. Healthy pastures and good land management practices help reduce weed establishment and minimise the need for herbicide use.
These biological and sustainable land management practices support healthy soils, productive pastures, animal welfare and the long-term environmental health of our property.
