Why I became a WWOOF Host

We joined WWOOF to connect with passionate, like-minded travellers who want to help us shape the future of our 56-acre property.

As a family new to permaculture and tropical fruit farming, we are incredibly eager to share this journey of discovery. We want to create a true exchange of knowledge—whether that means learning alongside experienced volunteers or teaching others what we have figured out so far.
Our ultimate vision is to transform Woodlands Farmstay into an educational haven where people can immerse themselves in nature, understand permaculture systems, and discover the power of using food as our medicine.
Turning this wild bushland into a thriving, self-sufficient paradise is a massive project, and we truly need hands-on help to make it happen.
By opening our home, we hope to build a collaborative community where we can work, learn, and grow together

Organic/Biological methods we use

Soil Health and Nutrition
Compost and Manure: We Compost and Manure: We add broken-down plant waste and animal manure to feed soil microbes and build rich organic matter.
Mulching: We cover the ground with organic materials to retain soil moisture and naturally block out weed growth.
Vermicompost (Worm Castings): We use pure worm poop to add highly concentrated nutrients, beneficial bacteria, and growth hormones directly to plant roots.
Worm Tea / Leachate: We dilute the liquid from our worm farm to create a powerful liquid fertilizer for watering or foliar spraying.
Pest and Plant Protection
Companion Planting: We grow specific mutually beneficial plants together to deter pests and maximize space.
Physical Barriers: We use structures like netting or row covers to physically block insects and animals from damaging our crops.
