Off grid under the gaze of sacred Gulaga mountain, Spotty Gum Peace Centre is situated on 50 acres of serene bushland. We have been building extensive vegetable gardens, a food forest and orchard using permaculture, organic and regenerative principles (without being ideological). Our property has spectacular mountain and ocean views, as well as secluded bushwalking trails that weave their way through temperate rainforest.
We have done some WWOOFing and work exchange, some of which was fun and others that felt exploitive. We enjoy sharing our space with respectful guests who care about living in reciprocity as we do. We have a few accommodation options in the main house and separate dwellings depending on availability.
Organic/Biological methods we use
We make our own compost and most of our mulch with a chipper. We use a chicken tractor on garden beds before resting them. Our two food gardens are on slopes so we utilise the land contours as best we can, including swales from dams filled by runoff and shower water. We also make biochar.
