Longtable Farm
Longtable Farm is a diverse, biologically managed farm on the beautiful Barrington Coast of NSW. We farm pigs, cattle, sheep and chickens, train working Kelpies, grow food, flowers, ginger and turmeric, and enjoy a hands-on homesteading lifestyle including milking cows, cooking from scratch and preserving food.
As we have our youngest still living at home, we’d appreciate a reference or contact from a previous host or place you’ve stayed, whether through WWOOF or otherwise. It’s simply a way for us to get to know you a little and feel comfortable welcoming someone into our family home. We’re also very happy to provide contacts for people who have stayed with us previously.

Why I became a WWOOF Host

We became WWOOF Hosts because we love the idea of sharing farm life with people who are genuinely interested in where food comes from, working with animals, growing things and learning practical skills. And, of course, on a diverse and evolving farm, extra hands are always welcome!
We have hosted people from different parts of the world previously and have really enjoyed the experience. We love learning about different cultures, sharing meals and ideas, and seeing farm life through the eyes of people from different backgrounds. Some of those experiences have grown into long-lasting friendships and relationships that we really value.
Longtable Farm is an evolving and diverse farm, and we are building it into something we are really proud of. There is always plenty happening, and we see hosting WWOOFers as a wonderful way to share the journey while also learning from the people who come to stay with us.
We hope to offer people a genuine hands-on experience of farm and homesteading life. Depending on the season, that might mean working with pigs, cattle, sheep or chickens, growing and harvesting food and flowers, milking cows, training our working Kelpies, cooking from scratch, preserving food or getting involved in one of the many projects happening around the farm.
We don’t expect people to arrive knowing everything. We value curiosity, a willingness to have a go and an interest in learning. In return, we hope WWOOFers leave with new skills, good memories, a better understanding of farm and homesteading life and perhaps a little inspiration to take home with them.
For us, hosting is about more than simply having help on the farm. We hope Longtable Farm can be a place where people feel welcome, contribute to what we are building, share in everyday farm life and become part of the rhythm of the farm for a while.

Organic/Biological methods we use

At Longtable Farm, we focus on building healthy, biologically active soils and growing food in a way that works with natural systems rather than relying heavily on synthetic inputs.
We use a range of regenerative and biological practices including compost, animal manures, mulching, cover crops, diverse plantings and biological soil amendments. Our aim is to feed and support soil biology, improve soil structure and organic matter, and grow healthy, resilient plants.
We see the farm as a connected system and aim to integrate animals, crops and soil management wherever practical. Our livestock play an important role in nutrient cycling, while diverse crops, flowers, trees and habitat help encourage biodiversity and beneficial insects.
We are continually learning, experimenting and improving our systems. We don’t claim to have everything figured out, but we are passionate about building healthier soils, producing good food, caring well for our animals and leaving the land healthier and more productive for the future.
