Mick Moran
Our property is a 160 hectare certified organic property near Grafton, New South Wales, dedicated to organic farming and the principles of permaculture. We believe in working with nature, choosing crops suited to our sandy soils and local conditions, and nurturing the land through natural products and thoughtful farming practices.
We currently grow 20 acres of organic blueberries and are beginning to plant garlic and other vegetables. As the farm develops, we hope to broaden the range of food we produce, including introducing chickens for both eggs and meat within our organic and permaculture approach.
Our commitment goes beyond growing food. We want to build a welcoming community where people can share knowledge, learn from one another and experience the satisfaction of caring for the land. At the heart of Lost Wisdom Organics is a simple philosophy: to grow nourishing food, nurture meaningful connections and create space for the beautiful things in life to happen.

Why I became a WWOOF Host

I became a WWOOF host because I am passionate about organic farming and want to share that passion with others.  For me, organic farming is about caring for the soil, understanding the land and working with nature to produce good food and a great outcome for the environment.
Looking ahead, I hope to expand into keeping chickens and growing a wider variety of fruit and vegetables. I would love to develop a more diverse and sustainable farm, with opportunities for WWOOFers to learn alongside us and contribute to that journey.
I enjoy sharing practical knowledge and helping people discover the satisfaction of growing and harvesting food. Hosting offers an opportunity to introduce others to organic farming, whether they already have experience or are trying it for the first time.
I am also keen to learn from our visitors. Everyone brings their own experiences, ideas and cultural perspectives, and I see WWOOF as a valuable exchange that can help us all grow.
My aim is to create a welcoming environment where WWOOFers feel part of everyday farm life, are comfortable asking questions and can develop useful skills. I hope they leave with happy memories, new friendships and a deeper appreciation of the land and where their food comes from.

Organic/Biological methods we use

We are committed to organic growing and guided by permaculture principles. We believe that the quality of the food we eat begins with the health of the soil in which it grows.
Our aim is to cultivate a productive farm that works in harmony with the surrounding forest. We want food production and the natural environment to support one another, encouraging biodiversity while caring for the land. Achieving this balance takes thoughtful planning, patience and a willingness to keep learning.
We currently use certified organic fertilisers to support our crops. As the farm develops, we plan to produce our own organic compost and worm castings to build soil fertility, improve soil structure and support beneficial soil organisms. Over time, we hope these resources will supply more of our crops’ nutritional needs, reducing our reliance on purchased products and creating a more self sufficient farm.
