Michelle and Aaron
Hi everyone!
Michelle and Aaron here – a married couple from Adelaide, with our nature block 15 minutes from the city. Our 2.4-hectare property in Belair sits in the Hills Face Zone with stunning sea views. The land is currently untouched bushland (formerly a quarry, then government-owned) and we’re starting fresh.
Our vision is to create an off-grid permaculture paradise with an Earthship eco-home, food forest, and organic gardens. Right now, the work is about buildind on some foundations. We have access to water and a compost toilet on-site, and vehicle access as well as stair access to top areas of the property. Main work is to build upon those foundations – helping removal of woody weeds plus helping basic off-grid and permaculture-informed ‘construction’ (building check dams, more compost toilets, fences for sheep, keeping sheep and other odd jobs).
We are open to purchasing a decent caravan to put on the site for you to live, and would expect 20 hours of work per week to cover this in exchange. Otherwise, if you have your own setup, we would only ask 5 hours per week help in exchange for the basic site access.

Why I became a WWOOF Host
We decided to become WWOOF hosts because we know how unique this property is and how much potential it holds for regeneration and sustainable living. With both of us working full-time, we also recognise that we can’t do it all on our own! By opening up our project to WWOOFers, we hope to create a space where people can share in the journey of transforming untouched land into a thriving, regenerative permaculture haven.
We have both travelled widely, lived and worked overseas, and know firsthand how rewarding it is to exchange skills, ideas, and stories across cultures. Becoming WWOOF hosts is our way of extending that spirit of exchange here in Adelaide.
This opportunity allows us to pass on permaculture-based skills to someone keen to learn, as well as gain insight from skilled WOOFers who might be able t teach us a thing or twoo as well!

Organic/Biological methods we use
We are at the very beginning of our journey on this property, so there is no active farming yet. However, Aaron has been self-learning and practicing permaculture for over 5 years in our suburban homes and sits on the Permaculture South Australia Committee as a volunteer.
Our approach is guided by permaculture principles — working with natural systems, valuing diversity, and regenerating the land. We don’t plan to grow commercial quantities, but instead focus on creating a self-sufficient, resilient food system that nourishes us and shares abundance with our community.
Our long-term vision includes:
🌳 Establishing a food forest with layers of fruit trees, shrubs, herbs, and groundcovers.
🥕 Creating an organic veggie garden for seasonal produce.
🌺 Building pollinator-friendly plantings to support bees and native species.
🌿 Integrating waste recycling, composting, and water management systems.
🍍 Constructing an Earthship greenhouse to grow year-round tropical fruits and fresh food in a closed-loop system.
WWOOFers joining us will be part of the journey right from the start — helping us transform a degraded, weedy bushland into a thriving, sustainable ecosystem.
