Alida and Jim Pappas
Olive grove of approximately 3000 trees. Olives harvested and processed for extra virgin olive oil which is used to sell in the local community and for personal and family use.

Fruits and vegetables are grown with organic techniques for mostly personal and extended family use.
Our farm is situated close to the nations capital of Canberra about 3 hours drive from Sydney. There is an abundance of wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas and wombats and a Multitude of beautiful birds.

Our area is on the mountains so we have very low humidity and can be quite cold in winter. We are about a 11/2 hours from Australia’s snowfields and about 11/2 hours from the coast.

Why I became a WWOOF Host

We love the idea of meeting and hosting WWOOFers who are from other countries and cultures. The fact that they are volunteers who are willing to put some hours into helping a retired couple with some farm work is a real bonus. We love food from all cultures and also love eating with friends and family, it’s a big part of our lives and we look forward to sharing meals with new friends.

Organic/Biological methods we use

We use only organic methods in our olive grove which includes fish and seaweed fertilisers.

Only white oil is used for pest control in the olive grove and the orchard.

In the vegetable garden pest control is achieved with organic methods such as companion planting with herbs and garlic spray.

Fertiliser in the vegetable garden is achieved by using bird excrement from chickens and pigeons.
