Jacqs
Hi! We’re looking for friendly, reliable volunteers to join us on our peaceful 45-acre property in Harlin, Queensland. If you enjoy animals, don’t mind getting your hands dirty, and would like to experience our basic country life, we’d love to welcome you.
Our home is surrounded by natural bushland with beautiful valley views and a seasonal creek. We share the property with four energetic dogs, six sheep (sometimes lambs), two goats and a small flock of chickens, so there’s always something happening. Every day is a little different, and volunteers become part of our daily routine rather than just helping with chores.
In exchange for around 4–6 hours of help each day, we provide comfortable accommodation in a shared room (one double bed and one bunk bed), shared meals, and a relaxed, friendly environment where you’ll have plenty of opportunities to learn practical rural skills and enjoy the peace and quiet of country living.
Jobs vary depending on the season and current projects, but can include caring for the animals, feeding, collecting eggs, cleaning sheds, whipper snipping, gardening, fencing, gutter cleaning, minor repairs, general property maintenance and helping around the house. Some tasks are physical, so a reasonable level of fitness is helpful.
We’re a non-smoking property, and we usually ask volunteers to stay for at least two weeks, although longer stays are welcome if we’re a good fit and there are ongoing projects. We value kindness, respect, initiative and a good sense of humour, and we hope you’ll enjoy sharing meals, conversations and life on the property with us.
While we aren’t a certified organic farm, we believe in caring for the land responsibly, using sustainable and low-impact practices wherever practical, and continually improving the property for both the animals and the environment.
If this sounds like the kind of experience you’re looking for, we’d be delighted to hear from you!

Why I became a WWOOF Host

We’re signing up because we’d love to share our beautiful little piece of rural Queensland with people from around the world while receiving a helping hand with the many projects that come with maintaining a 45-acre property. We enjoy meeting new people, sharing meals and stories, and creating a relaxed, welcoming environment where everyone can learn from each other. We hope you’ll leave with new skills, great memories, and an awesome experience of country life.

Organic/Biological methods we use

While we are not a certified organic farm, we aim to work with nature wherever practical. We focus on sustainable, low-impact property management, using natural methods whenever possible. Our animals have plenty of space to graze, we compost organic material where we can, recycle green waste back into the property, and prefer natural fertilisers and soil improvement methods over synthetic products whenever suitable. Volunteers may also help with gardening, composting, mulching, and other environmentally conscious land management practices as we continue to improve the property.
