Erin
My farm is a 50 acre fruit block in Goodnight about 50km NW of Swan Hill. I grow a variety of fruit, the summer being the busiest time with the Sultana harvest and Figs which are sold fresh and picked daily. Winter is pruning season and citrus season. You need to be a dog lover and be ok with bugs and spiders, we are next to the outback after all. There is always something to do on a fruit block, especially an Organic fruit Block. I often need a hand with odd jobs through out the year and do enjoy the relaxed relationships that grow from hosting WWOOFers, so if you are keen to enjoy a few days on your way across the country drop me a line.

Why I became a WWOOF Host

I really enjoy the friendships which have grown from having WWOOFers on my farm. I enjoy the fresh perspectives coming into my daily life and the ability to bounce ideas off people who have so much to offer, this farm, including the company name, Sultana Girl, is what it is today thanks to the creativity and love shared with my dear WWOOFers over the years.

Organic/Biological methods we use

I took my farm Organic in 2012. Most of the fertiliser goes out through the drip irrigation. I’m a big fan of Charlie Carp, an Australian company which takes the invasive European carp from our rivers and turns it into excellent fertiliser. Being in a dry area, I tend not to disk too much, rather opting for a winter cover crop to slash and use that as a mulch.
