Bull Fire is a family-run fresh-produce farm in Lowmead, Gladstone Region developing a large fruit orchard, piggery and on-site sawmill. We welcome WWOOFers to help with general farm tasks including planting, irrigation, tractor driving and harvesting of citrus, peaches, apples and avocado, and to learn practical skills while joining our friendly family team.
We love our 308‑acre block of special Australian bush and wanted to share its beauty—our home, animals, abundant birdlife and peaceful surroundings—with others. Hosting WWOOFers lets us pass on practical skills (tree felling, sawmilling and traditional building methods), share our passion for plants and animals, and teach regenerative, self‑sufficient living. Above all, we value different cultures and hope hosting will bring new friends and meaningful cultural exchange into our home.
Organic/Biological methods we use
We focus on hands-on, sustainable practices suited to small-scale production: using careful crop rotation and planning, minimal tillage where feasible, and targeted irrigation to reduce water use. We incorporate organic matter into soils through composting and mulching to improve soil health, use manual and physical methods for pest management where possible, and select resilient varieties suited to our climate. Chemical inputs are used only when necessary and applied conservatively following label guidance. We prioritise monitoring plant health, maintaining good hygiene around crops and working to build long-term soil fertility and farm resilience. There is also scope to learn practical timber and building skills through our on-site sawmill and farm-structure projects.
