Our mudbrick home is set on 28 acres within the Adelaide Hills, it has amazing views and a peaceful walk through native open woodland. Having recently moved here we have been repairing our mudbrick home, renovating paddocks and building our organic vegetable patch and orchard.
Twenty minutes from Mt Barker and an hour from Adelaide CBD you will have access to your own separate bedrooms, living space and bathroom.
Well to be honest we hadn’t heard of WWOOF. We really enjoy sharing our space and a friend thought it would be a great idea because it is such a great environment. Our home is built on three levels and can accommodate quite a few people, bedrooms, a bathroom and sitting room is separated from the rest of the home. Friends often come and stay to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. When our kids were younger we provided accommodation to overseas students taking time to study in Australia. When we heard about WWOOF it seemed like a great opportunity to meet people to share our experience and get some much needed help to restore and maintain the property.
Organic/Biological methods we use
Our home has been built ecologically on the land from the land, the home is solar generated and uses cross ventilation during summmer.
Our vegetable garden and orchard is managed organically.
We are working to preserve water on the land, build soil health through re- generation and contouring of the property.
For this we are working towards adequate fencing to enable better live stock rotation (we tend to borrow the neighbors cattle or sheep as it is a win win)
We preserve, ferment and dry fruits and vegetables anually and donate any excess
